Early Work

Asbury Park:

My baby, my muse, my obsession at times. Asbury holds quite a soft spot in my heart. I spent many nights shooting here during my undergrad years at Parsons. Sometimes I went alone; sometimes I went with my grandfather… It was beautiful to stand silent in the night, in this forsaken and desolate town, waiting for a few lone cars to pass in order to get my shots. It was a time when the streets were empty, buildings were boarded up, and the “House of Good Intentions” was the only functioning business on the boardwalk. Asbury’s emptiness was magical to me, and that magic was my hymn, my inspiration. Things have changed since then.

Pinholes:

These images were also taken in Asbury Park. This series consists of 15 images that hang in a grid. The purpose of this work was to examine the nonspecificities of the mind. It was made during a time when I was having lurid dreams with ambiguous beginnings and harsh endings. The pinholes were a means for both my exploration and diagnosis.

Coney Island:

This project was completed in September 2009 while I was getting my Masters Degree at the School of Visual Arts. It was for an editorial photography class taught by Harvey Stein. If you’re familiar with Harvey’s work, then you’ll understand why he gave us this particular assignment. If not, you can check it out here
